Tim and Faith

This past Friday night we went to Birmingham, to see the Soul2Soul II concert with Tim McGraw and Faith Hill. It was a great concert! And yes these two are just as sickiningly (is that even a word) gorgeous in person. It was very loud though, sometimes you could'nt tell what they were even saying, but it was still worth it. We ended up paying way to much to go. When the tickets went on sale, we wanted 4 seats together to go with friends, but at the time the system was only letting us get two, so we bought 2 in one section and 2 in another, and our friends did the same. That afternoon, we looked again, and it was letting us get 4 together, so then we had 4 sets of tickets to sell. I posted them on ebay, and had the hardest time selling them. NEVER would I have thought that! At the end, we ended up still having one set to sell, so when we got to the civic center, we tried to sell them. No one wanted these tickets (they were ON THE FLOOR!) So we just gave them to a really young couple, who we met while walking from the parking deck, they were very thankful as their seats were in the nose bleed section.
After the concert we ran into them again, and they were so excited, and then we found out that they had driven that morning all the way from Louisiana to see this concert. To me I was so happy to have made this couples day, I did not even care that we lost $197.00 on these two tickets. We exchanded addresses with them, and are gonna send some pictures that we all took. Unfortunatley, I did not get very many good ones, that is why I did not post my own pictures. But the memory will last forever! We had originally planned to take Lily (SHE LOVES FAITH HILL) but decided it would just be too much for her. On Valentine's day we took her to see Keith Urban (ALSO LOVES HIM, mommy does too!) and we ended up leaving early cause she got tired. Maybe when she is a little older!

Were you born today?

I have been thinking about this for weeks now, and after seeing this poem on other blogs, well I just have to share it too!
We don't know if our child has been born yet, but we do know that it should be within the next several months, so for a while, I will be wondering this every day.

Were you born today?

Were you born today across the ocean deep and blue?
Did someone wrap you warmly? Did they stop and gaze at you?

Did they look upon your almond eyes and touch your silken hair?
Did they stop to kiss each tiny toe, hear your breath upon the air?

Did you hear a soft voice comforting, securely in her arms?
The warmth of two souls bonding, oh, the lure of newborn charms.

Were they charmed by every movement; every yawn and stretch and pout?
Did they celebrate with handshakes and good spirits all about?

Or were the tears mistaken, as they fell upon your face?
Their eyes were wells of sorrow? Their heads hung in disgrace?

Did they tremble when they realized the thing that would be done?
Did they mourn the new day coming, with the rising of the sun?

Did they place you, oh so tenderly, in the place where you were found?
Were those blankets wrapped up tightly to deny the cold, hard ground?

Did she whisper words of comfort with a love that was so deep?
Did she recognize the features of this one she could not keep?

Did you feel the night wind blowing as it carried in the morn?
Did you hear your mother weeping on the day that you were born?

And here across the ocean a mother weeps for you.
How long before she travels across the ocean, deep and blue?

How long before she gazes at those dimpled hands?
How long before she travels to that promised, distant land?

Her heart is filled with gladness. Her dreams are coming true.
The secret thrill of motherhood, across that ocean deep and blue.

And she'll gaze upon your almond eyes and touch your silken hair.
She'll stop and kiss each tiny toe...feel your breath upon the air.

And you'll hear a soft voice comforting; the world's so insecure.
Two fragile souls are bonding as they hold each other near.

She'll be charmed by every movement; every yawn and stretch and pout.
And she'll celebrate with handshakes and good spirits all about.

And you'll hear the night wind blowing as she rocks you off to sleep.
And she'll whisper words of comfort, with a love that is so deep.

...And far across the ocean a mother weeps...

American Idol...My two cents!

O.K. I have not posted about this before, just because so many people get REALLY pationate about who they like, or don't like, but I will finally give you my take on who I think should win.

I just spent the past two hours voting for Kat, for one thing, she makes me sick, she's so pretty. I would hate her for it, but she seems like a really nice girl. And she has an amazing voice. I was so glad that they (the judges) liked her version of "Over the rainbow," and I'm glad Simon picked this song for her to sing. Who out there did not go around singing this song as a child. I know I did! I think she sounded better than the version sung in the Wizard of Oz! I do like Taylor, don't get me wrong, I am from Birmingham, and we B'Ham folks gotta stick together, but There's just something in Katharine that I like just a little better.

Now, for Elliott, I still can't, for the life of me, figure out why he is still in this competition. Yes, he can sing o.k. but I can't watch him while he's singing, just gets on my last nerve!

Well, now ya know who I'm hoping will win!

If it ends up like the past three years, my girl will win! I voted for the past three winners!

Now don't ya'll go giving me a hard time, it's just my opinion!

For all the Mothers

This is my tribute to Mother's Day.
To say thanks to my mom, for letting me become the person I am today.
I found this poem, and thought it was perfect for this post.

Before I was myself you made me, me
-author unknown

Before I was myself you made me, me

With love and patience, discipline and tears,
Then bit by bit stepped back to set me free,

Allowing me to sail upon my sea,

Though well within the headlands of your fears.
Before I was myself you made me, me

With dreams enough of what I was to be
And hopes that would be sculpted by the years,
Then bit by bit stepped back to set me free,

Relinquishing your powers gradually
To let me shape myself among my peers.
Before I was myself you made me, me,

And being good and wise, you gracefully
As dancers when the last sweet cadence nears
Bit by bit stepped back to set me free.

For love inspires learning naturally:
The mind assents to what the heart reveres.
And so it was through love you made me, me
By slowly stepping back to set me free.

Happy Mother's Day!!!
To my mother, for making me, me.
For letting me make my own mistakes while growing up,
and supporting the decisions I have made.
To my Grandmother, for inspiring me to make a quilt
even though you're no longer here among us,
I remember you always sewing, and I strive to be equally creative.
To my sister, for laying the path for me to follow in becoming
a good mom myself, although I don't spoil my children with
Mountain Dew or Pepsi, I'll let there Auntie to do that!
and for being Madilyn's Godmother!
To my Mother in law (who I know is reading this)
Thank you for your wisdom in parenting,
for raising a good son, who became a great husband,
and daddy.
I will always hope to receive the unconditional love of my children,
as you hold, but then again, Mimi can do no wrong!
To Matt's Grandma R, for always letting us crash at your house,
for giving us golf cart rides, and playing in your pool. Oh, and Lily
still talks about Grandma with the blue stairs. She just loves it there.
We all do!
To my sister in law, for catching up to me quickly,
with the birth of twin boys!
And for being Lily's Godmother, you hold the title well!

Also I want to say Happy Mother's Day to all of the moms out there,
even if you may not have your little ones in your arms yet,
the time will come!

You know your addicted when...

You stalk other people's blogs to see what you can add to your own! I have been wanting to add more interesting things to my blog ever since we were DTC, and we have not had any new "ADOPTION NEWS" to talk about. So now I am spending my time trying to figure out how I can add all of those little graphics onto my template. As you can see I have added a few, but I am looking for some little ladybug clipart to add in my sidebar. PLEASE do tell, if anyone knows a way that I (computer eliterate) can do this! I guess I'm just bored, huh?

My new name is DUMBO FARKLEDUNKIN!

MY NEW NAME IS IN THE SUBJECT.....DON'T LAUGH UNTIL
U FIND OUT WHAT
YOUR NEW NAME IS!

We all need a little stress-reliever! Right? Well, I received an email with this little bit of humor.

Sometimes when you have a stressful day or week,
you need some silliness to
break up the day. And, if we are honest, we have a
lot more stressful days
than
not.

Here is your dose of humor...

The following is excerpted from a children's book,
Captain Underpants And
the
Perilous Plot Professor Poopypants, by Dave Pilkey,
in which the evil
Professor
forces everyone to assume new names.

Do the following and then let me know what your new names are!!!

And remember this is for FUN!

1. Use the third letter of your first name to
determine your new first name:

a = snickle

b = doombah
c = goober
d = cheesey
e = crusty
f = greasy
g = dumbo
h = farcus
i = dorky
j = doofus
k = funky
l = boobie

m = sleezy
n = sloopy

o = fluffy
p = stinky
q = slimy
r = dorfus
s = snooty
t = tootsie
u = dipsy
v = sneezy
w = liver
x = skippy
y = dinky
z = zippy

2. Use the second letter of your last name to
determine the first half of
your new
last name:

a = dippin
b = feather
c = batty
d = burger
e = chicken
f = barffy
g = lizard
h = waffle
i = farkle
j = monkey
k = flippin
l = fricken
m = bubble

n = rhino
o = potty
p = hamster
q = buckle
r = gizzard
s = lickin
t = snickle
u = chuckle
v = pickle
w = hubble
x = dingle
y = gorillA
z = girdle

3. Use the third letter of your last name to
determine the second half of
your new
last name:

a = butt
b = boob
c = face
d = nose
e = hump
f = breath
g = pants
h = shorts
i = lips
j = honker
k = head
l = tush
m = chunks

n = dunkin
o = brains
p = biscuits
q = toes
r = doodle
s =fanny
t = sniffer
u = sprinkles
v = frack
w = squirt
x = humperdinck
y = hiney
z = juice

Now wasn't that FUN!
I hope you all remember to reply with your new name!

New Template, same blog!

Sorry everyone for the confusion! I want to add some things to my blog, and decided I need to change templates in order to do so. Bare with me, when I switched templates it deleted all of my links, so I will have to go back and add them in soon.
I just hope I remember how!

Shopping!

Well, not much new in the adoption area, but I have found something that I just have to buy!

When Lily turned two, we gave her a Lee Middleton doll, that looks very similar to her, same color hair and eyes. She had her 2 year old picture with this doll. So of course now I have been searching for one that we can give to Madilyn for her second birthday, and have her pictures with, but I am having the hardest time finding a doll that looks like her! I may have to wait till July, this is when their next new releases comes out. I hate the thought that I would settle on one, and then THE PERFECT ONE would come out later. So anyway, I was looking on their website www.leemiddleton.com to see what was new, and bam! I saw this doll. I new as soon as I saw her that I would buy her, so now I'm on the lookout. I just think it is so neat too that she was released in April, and we were LID in April! It's a sign, I have to get this doll! I will save it for our next duaghter's second birthday.
Also, I joined the April DTC Yahoo group, and decided to join the secret pal gift exchange, sshhhhhhh!!! don't tell my DH! I can't wait to see who my secret pal will be, and to start shopping for gifts during the LONG wait. Any excuse to go to the mall!
