Since you asked
Well, to answer a few questions, I figured I'd make an entire post about this. I was going to just make a comment, but then I thought I should post a couple other photos as well. So here goes.
Yes, I did paint the character on our cornhole boards. He is quite cute if I do say so myself.
The picture that I posted before was just of the little fellow, but here's one of the whole board. I got the demensions on line, so it is made according to the standard 24 x 48 inch boards. The hole is suppose to be 6 inches, but when DH was cutting, they ended up being a tad bigger, not enough to make a big difference though.
It took me a week to paint them, and I REALLY (really!) wanted to put "cornhole" on it in funky lettering, but when I drew it out, it didn't fit well, I should have put the square with Mr. Corny (y'all help me think of a name for him, PLEASE!) up a little higher on the board, then it would have worked, but oh well, I like it enough this way.
Now, I'm thinking of how to make a score board. I've got an idea, but we shall see!
Does this help?
Now, on to my little fellow. I was looking at different things online, we are not huge sports fans, so I did not really want to put a team logo on it. I thought about flags, and found a confederate flag I liked, but then I could not find a union flag, so onto something else.
Well, my girls like the Veggie Tales, and I thought it would be cute to make a kid friendly board, so I made this little guy to look like them. I used Larry the cucumbers eyes.
My DH (upon seeing them for the first time) said "Great, we're gonna get sued by the Veggie Tales"
No, they don't have a corn character I already looked that up!
So anyway that is how I got the idea for our game, and I had fun doing it too.
Of course, painting the kitchen just isn't as much fun, although I'm diggin the color, but you'll have to wait to see it!
See the resemblance?
On a side note, this is kind of a funny story. We live in a subdivision, and we are in the middle of a culdesac, so our yard is really wide, but the only down side we have is the neighbors in the back. They are on the close side. When we first moved here, I planted some trees along that fence, and eventually they will get tall enough for a privacy thing, but anyway. They are nice enough people I suppose, it is a couple about our age, but they don't act like they want to be friendly other than the occasional wave. They have a pool, and are outside all the time in the summer. Well, I had my boards out under our back porch to paint them, so I'm sure they saw what we were doing, they have a two story house, so our current privacy fence does not do much, hence the reason for my planting the trees.
Last summer they had pool parties quite often, and I had just mentioned this morning that they really have not had many people over this year. I spoke too soon!
They had a party this afternoon. And guess what they were playing?
Yep, CORNHOLE!!!
This is the first time I have seen them playing it, so I'm pretty sure it was not their's, probably one of their friends, but I just thought that was too funny that I just made ours, and they are now playing it too!!!
